Twisted Sister is an American heavy metal band formed in Long Island, New York in 1972. The band consists of members Dee Snider (vocals), Jay Jay French (guitar), Eddie "Fingers" Ojeda (guitar), Mark "The Animal" Mendoza (bass), and A.J. Pero (drums).
Twisted Sister rose to fame in the 1980s with their heavy metal sound and over-the-top stage shows, which often included elaborate costumes and makeup. The band's hits include "We're Not Gonna Take It" and "I Wanna Rock".
In addition to their music, Twisted Sister was also known for their advocacy for freedom of speech and opposition to censorship. Dee Snider famously testified before Congress in 1985 against a proposed "Parental Advisory" label for music with explicit lyrics.
